Saturday Caturday Extra: For Chica and Pumuckle
My furrends Chica and Pumuckle recently took a big advenchure mooving from Egypt land to Germanny. I saw sumthing on the teevee bocks the other nite that made me think of them.
Yoo mita herd the expreshun "Evrything is Bigger in Texas". Well, peeple whare I live sure do try to live up to that. Be it the size of thare houses to the size of thare credit card bills. The State Fair of Texas jes opened in Dallas. Thare are manny tradishuns at the Texas State Fair...rides, cars, eggzibits, the Texas-OU game. But no dout the biggest tradishun is "Big Tex". Chica and Pumuckle haff bin so nice to share hisstory and stories about whare thay live that I wantid to return the favor.
Big Tex first came to the Texas State Fair in 1952; he stands 52 feet tall and has size 70 boots! And furget about the 10 gallon hat...his is 75 gallons! He wares a reely big shirt from Dickeys and jeans made by Lee. Big Tex even talks, greeting peeple and making announcemints. Sum peeple think he's kinda creepy but I think he's smart. He pickt the best place in the park to stand, neer the Fletcher Corny Dog stands, the fried twinkies and the cotton candy!
Did yoo know the corn dog got its start at the Texas State Fair? Thay will sell neerly a millyun of them during the fair. But will I get one? Prolly not.
Innyhow, in honor of the King Tut eggzibbit coming to the Dallas Mewseeum of Art a big jackle hedded Egyptian god named Anubis wuz set up next to Big Tex for a foto op. After the fotos Anubis took his post garding the entranse to the fair.
The foto op reely cot my attenshun becuz the state fair haz nefur done innything like that beforr. Big Tex has always stood alone. When I think of it, it's almost as strange a pairing as John McCane and Sarah Palin!
(Big Tex is so tall he can see Mexico! He has forign policee experience too!)
Heer is Anubis and Big Tex together. This pitchur is like an opticull illooshun becuz Anubis izzint as big as Big Tex. Anubis is reely only 25 feet high. Plus in this pitchur it looks like Big Tex is gonna give Anubis a big hug. Click heer to see the viddy-oh of Anubis and Big Tex!.

OK, buddies, I gotta tell you: I thought that Big Tex was kinda scary, but when I showed Big Tex and Anubis to Momma, she laffed and laffed. Something about inflatable cowboys and fried Twinkies is funny, I guess.
