Friday Confeshuns: Nikki
Today it's the return of Friday Confeshuns! Its nice to start the weekend with a clean slate. And then yoo git to mess it up again...dats the best part!
This is Nikki. Nikki wuz my furst sisfur.
She's heer on Friday Confeshuns becuz this past Saturday marked one yeer since she went to Rainbow Bridge. We furrgot. It wuzzint til Toosday when it got rememburrt. I feel kinda bad about it.
The pitchur I showed on Wordless wuz taken not long after Tenny mooved in. Grammy sent Daddy the memorial stone engraved to rememburr Nikki. Thay hung it on a nale next to the Pagoda.
Me and Tenny wuz hangin up thare and I wuz tellin her about Nikki. How she loved "her man" so much and how she trained him to be a grate cat Daddy. I tole her whut sum of Daddys favrite things wuz. And heer he sez he kant beeleeve Tenny gives him eyeball licks jes like Nikki. Well, it's cuz I tole her!
Nikki had hyperthyroidism. It had made a hart murmur. The only way to cure her wood be to send her to a radiocat center and zap the thyroid with raydeeayshun. But that cost many green papers so Nikki got pills insted. She did vary well for a yeer and then she got a new problem: chylothorax. This milky stuff wuz fillin the spaces around her lungs and it wuz hard to breeth. Thare is no cure, jes treetments with no garantee it wood help. Again the green papers were a problem. At the age of 14, they helped her with meddasin and she beat the vet's estimate of 3 weeks to live. She hung in thare for 3 months beforr it wuz time to let her go play with Karma at the Bridge.
The Ones Who Come Before Us leave beehind lessons for our peeple so that The Ones Who Will Come After Us will haff an even bedder life. And one of Nikki's lessons wuz for the peeple to do a bedder job of planning for our health care expensis.
Last week in Kaze's Frootbat Friday post she remindid us of how importint and helpful pet insurance is. The only insurance Mommy looked at was ridiculously expensive with all kinds of ways they kood git out of paying. But the link Kaze had wuz to Pet Plan. Mommy liked whut she red. The price wuz rite too. It even covers cancer. And we hate cancer.
So on Saturday she bot a policy for me and a policy for Tennessee. We sincerely want to thank Kaze for telling us about Pet Plan. Not only do we have peese of mind but it wuz a grate way to honor Nikki...even if we diddint know it at the time.

Mom has insurance fur us...all three of us. She's with VPI and likes dem but da only reason she started wif dem is when she got us insurance der were only like 3 companies offering pet insurance! Now Zippy is to old and other companies won't cover her.

Oh now the Lap Lady's eyes are leaking. Gosh, what a beautiful post! I'm very glad I could help you even a little. The LL was in my vet's office the other day and mentioned that she did get insurance for us. Everyone in the office with their woofies and kitties was curious and shocked at how it wasn't as expensive as they'd thought. I really hope more and more kitties get insured because it helps take that burden from the humans and they can just support us when we're sick. You really really touched our hearts!!!

That's so true but also so sad. As Chica was our first kitty and the older one she got all the problems which we didn't know how to solve. We know it now with Pumuckl, he is very lucky, but I still feel sad for what happened with Chica before.
We are glad you have found the pet insurance. We also don't have one and even didn't think about it as such things are not used here, but definitely I will look for it in Germany.

That was a lovely way to honor Nikki. We are looking at Petplan as well--although it is too late for my dental and we need to see about pre-existing conditions... sigh.

My buddy Rocky has a thigh roid problim, too. He gits pills forst down his throte evry day. He hasn't had the radioaktive thing dun yet cuz 1) it kosts lots of green papers, and 2) the Food Lady and Mr TF wood have to find ware owtside Rocky kraps so they can reetreeve the krap and male it to the biowaste peeple. Rocky will only poop owtside, so if he was forst to poop inside to they cood keep trak of his krap, he probly wood ixplode beefore he pooped. So we just keep hopin' the little wite pills will keep werkin' thare majik.

Oh, and I furgot to say that Rocky duzn't have pet insherunse cuz of the pre-existing kundishun claws, and becuz it's too ixpensive fur geezer cats.

Momma and Daddy are working on the budget right now so we can all get on insurance. If we had a big emergency we would not have the green papers. Thanks for your post, after this one and Kaze's I think they might get it pulled together this weekend.

I finks its always furry sad when we remembers how much we missed the ones that has gone before. It's always betters to recalls the happy times and hows much they loves us.
Mommy Bean has insurance for me's too. It's thru Banfield whose gots really goods v-e-ts even thoughs I hates going!

Nikki was indeed a bootiful girl. My miewmie bought insurwance for me as soon as she gotted me. I am insured by Tesco, a big supermarket chain. They was furry good and paid my v-e-t bill when some gwass got stuk in my thwoat. It wood had costed miewmie many many green papers spechially as it was on a August bank holiday and effurfing is doubil the price den.
